The Accord Dawn Part 1 - AxA Chapter 12

THE CELESTIAL FORUM — NATION OF VHARON

The night was past saving.

Every light in the Celestial Forum pulsed low and warm, the glow of overworked power running through marble like trapped lightning.

At the center of the chamber, the charted holographic layout of The Wilds spun in silence.

Its surface flickered, broken terrain, translucent fog, mountains drawn by half-finished data. And across its lower hemisphere shimmered a single band of deep green light.

Emerald Helionite.

The new fuel of Vharon’s empire. The reason the rails of the High Noon Network never slept. The reason no one in this room could either.

The delegates had stopped arguing hours ago, now they just listened to each other think.

That was when Imani stood.

The Matriarch of Light Imani stood near the edge of the table, her tone calm. Her voice never rose. It didn’t need to.

Her earlier words still lingered like heat:

“Fifty years of silence has yielded one revelation, the gods we buried in myth may not be resting after all.”

She hadn’t meant it as poetry, but it landed like judgment.

“For fifty years we’ve called silence peace,” she said. “But this isn’t peace. This is waiting for someone else to make the first mistake.”

Her next words cut through the still air.

She looked toward the Vharon delegate, who wouldn’t meet her eyes.

“You’ve already opened the door. We can’t close it.
So we walk through it together.”

She turned slightly toward General Kofi.

“If the General agrees, Nardox will send two of its best.”

Kofi looked at her.

No words. No argument.

Just the smallest nod, a quiet acceptance that felt heavier than sound.

The silence cracked open.

“You’re suggesting we enter the Wilds,” muttered the Hagg representative. “Does anyone here know what’s beyond Depth Fifteen?”

“Nobody does,” said another. “That’s the point.”

Arguments swelled and folded back into exhaustion. For hours they circled logistics: transport, resources, protection, Aether regulation. Every word felt like walking barefoot on glass.

Imani waited. She didn’t fight the chaos, she let it burn itself out until the next voice finally broke through.

Vharon’s delegate spoke first. “Fifteen Royal Guards of Vharon,” he said. “Led by the heir to High Noon. We’ll take responsibility for the ground we uncovered.”

The tension in the room eased slightly.

Then the Sylvannan elder stood, her robes faintly stirring in the electric air.

“Eight geologists from Sylvanna,” she said softly. “If the ore sings, we’ll listen.”

A slow murmur moved around the table. For the first time that night, it sounded like agreement.

Then came the distortion. A voice in the shadows.

The X’Omneran Envoy rose from the far end of the chamber, directly behind where Dr. Thorn had been quietly seated. Its voice arrived a heartbeat before its face came into focus, mechanical and layered.

“Five specialists,” it said. “Designations withheld.”

No one responded, but the shift in the air said everything.

The unspoken understanding rippled through the room like a current:

Ghosts existed.

And they were coming too.

The discussion dragged through what little remained of the night.

The remaining nations followed with practical offerings.

Zeraphen, Hagg, and Destiny, none would send summoners.

They would provide extraction support, communication relays, and resource transport for whatever returned.

Destiny’s seat at the table stayed empty, its insignia glowing dim on the digital wall, absent but watching.

By the time the document was officially signed on the holo-table, the twin suns of dawn had begun bleeding through the upper glass.

Imani placed her hand on the projection’s surface. The model of the Wilds spun once more, zooming inward until a label appeared in flickering green text:

DEPTH-17, UNCHARTED.

No one breathed.

THE BROADCAST

Outside, in the early morning hours, the city of glass erupted in celebration.

Crowds filled the streets, faces lifted to the holographic screens blooming above them.

Hot air balloons carrying sound cannons drifted across the sky as newscasters repeated the headline:

ACCORD OF DAWN SIGNED.

Cameras panned across the forum, catching each nation’s seal.

Between frames, a flicker broke through the feed:

five static silhouettes behind the delegation table, unmoving and faceless.

The signal corrected itself before anyone noticed.

THE DEPTH OF THE WILDS

They called it “Depth” because no other word survived the first transmissions into the Wilds over a hundred years ago.

Early exploration teams learned that the Wilds weren’t a place you traveled through. They were something you descended into.

Every kilometer deeper, Aether pressed harder, bending around bodies like resistance made of air.

The last expedition in the modern era reached Depth Fifteen.

Their final transmission lasted thirteen minutes before the feed dissolved into white noise.

The drones returned years later. The people didn’t.

Depth Sixteen is theoretical, estimated through drone telemetry that never returned.

Depth Seventeen is legend. At that depth, it is believed that Aether no longer moves around you.
It watches you.

The Wilds are the ungoverned frontier, the fractured remains of the old world where Aether behaves like conscious weather and reality bends in blocks instead of waves.

It is where explorers vanish, nations gamble their pride, and legends ascend.
